It is in ordinary moments that we find wonder.
Everyday moments to appreciate:
- The first sip of coffee
- Rain pounding against the window, while you’re warm inside.
- A friend calling early in the day and your whole day is brighter.
- Morning sun’s heat.
- Peaceful night’s sleep.
- A meal with family and friends.
- A book or movie that you can’t get over.
We work so hard to reach the big goals, the vacation, the “someday,” that we miss out on the joy that is right here. In the regular flow of our daily lives.
Gratitude is not a matter of toxic positivity, it’s just being mindful of what’s working with or without your input.
The longer we look, the more we realize God has been faithful by loading us with not so little blessings and sometimes we don’t notice them because they happen every day. When we start paying attention, we begin to feel grateful.
What if joy is waiting for us in everyday moments?
The regular days are the days we’re going to miss someday. We mustn’t wait until they’re gone to value them!
Gentle practice of gratitude can be a means of being attentive both inwardly and outwardly.
How about an “Everyday Blessings” journal?
In there, we write 5 everyday blessings for the next seven days.
By the end of the week, there will be 35 reminders that joy can be found in the ordinary.
