When Wanting Something Becomes Too Much
A job.
Healing.
Marriage.
Financial breakthrough.
Acceptance.
Opportunity.
These desires are human, they most times reflect the seasons we’re in. They remind us that hope is alive. The danger comes when desire quietly becomes desperation.
Desperation sounds like: “If I don’t get this now, my life is over.”
It pushes us to ignore our values, settle for less, compromise our peace, or chase people and opportunities that were never meant for us. Fear begins making decisions instead of wisdom.
Ask Yourself:
- Am I acting from fear or from purpose?
- Would I make this decision if I felt secure?
- Am I trying to force what needs time to grow?
Sometimes slowing down protects us from choices we’ll regret.
Healthy Ways to Cope
- Acknowledge your feelings without judging yourself.
- Talk to trusted people.
- Pray or reflect before making major decisions.
- Focus on what you can control today.
- Keep building your life while waiting for what you hope for.
Waiting doesn’t mean wasting.
Sometimes life is preparing you for the very thing you’re praying for.
Sometimes it’s redirecting you toward something even better.
Either way, your worth is not determined by how quickly your desires are fulfilled.
You are allowed to want beautiful things. Just don’t lose yourself trying to get them.
Hold your dreams with hope. Hold your values even tighter.
Because the best opportunities never require you to abandon who you are to receive them.
